So, in my opinion, if you want to keep it nice and simple, you should probably start with Motif. Even though I find both quite easy to use, the App store reviews would suggest that Mimeo has been more frustrating to use for some users. But with those different choices, and added complexity, comes potential frustration. Mimeo also has the same templates that were available directly in iPhoto and Photos before Apple dropped out of printing. Mimeo definitely offers more options than Motif, and allows you to customize things quite a bit more. Once you’ve started to create something, it is automatically saved in the Projects section of Photos, and auto-saves frequently from that point on.īoth services offer different layout options or themes that you can choose from, and this is where there is the biggest difference between the two services. And calendars are usually $19.99 for 12 months. The photo books can get even more expensive if you add more pages than the standard 20 pages they typically come with. Photo Books costs range from $9.99 to $49.99 depending on the size that you choose, and whether you choose soft cover and hard cover. The prices for both services are very similar with cards costing between $0.99 to $1.49. Once you’ve chosen which printer you’ll use, you get to choose between ordering cards, photo books, or calendars. You then go to File and choose Create, where you will see an option to choose either Motif or Mimeo Photos. Then, while in Photos, you start by selecting an image or group of images, or an album that you may have already created.

The first step is to download either Motif or Mimeo Photos from the App store onto your computer. In a general sense, both applications work roughly the same. As a matter of fact, RR Donnelley, the company that owns Motif, is one of the biggest commercial printer in the US.
Both of these companies apparently handled some of the printing for Apple in the past, so it’s not surprising to see them offering this service.

The two main ones are Motif and Mimeo Photos, which are both available for free from the Mac App Store. But, as it turns out, you can still order prints from inside of Photos with the help of some third-party applications. Unfortunately, as of October 1st 2019, Apple decided to get out of the photo printing business. You could then easily order these products and get them shipped to you.
